Aquascaping is an exciting part of the aquarium hobby. Contemporary aquascapers compete internationally to achieve sublime underwater landscapes.
At its most simple aquascaping is the combination of rocks, wood and plants in an aquarium to create an underwater garden.
The earliest planted tank design style is the Dutch aquarium which shows off the plants by contrasting the colours and shapes of the plants in formal lines. The so-called Nature Aquariums are Japanese inspired underwater gardens – minimalist but difficult to achieve. Jungle-style planting groups the plants informally in a riot of colour and form. Serious aquarists like to plant biotopes matching the plants found in a particular habitat with the fish found there.
Riverscape Aquarium offers a great range of aquatic plants and products for you to create your own unique underwater garden.
